About Me
Hello! My name is Ana Karen a developer that wants to change paths and work towards a better future!
I genuinely love technology — so much so that I’m finishing my second Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with a 4.0 GPA. Before that, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Interactive Arts and Technology from Simon Fraser University and spent four years working in full-stack development.
Now, I’m focused on bringing my background in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL into work that’s more earth-centered and spatially driven. I’ve worked with the Government of Canada, City of Calgary, non-profits, startups, and independent creators, so I know that understanding your goals always comes first.
When you work with me, you can expect fast responses, clear communication, and efficient turnaround. I’m goal-oriented, I enjoy a challenge, and I’m always looking for projects that push me to build something meaningful.
Goals
Over the next 6 months, I will develop my understanding in deploying and administering ArcGIS Enterprise by completing my current bootcamp, actively shadowing at least one full Enterprise launch, and supporting a minimum of two subsequent deployments. By the end of this period, I will be able to independently contribute to future ArcGIS Enterprise implementations with confidence and technical competence.
Over the next 12 months, I will gain clarity on the direction of my GIS career by completing at least three rotations within the Associate Program at Esri Canada. Through these rotations, I will evaluate where my technical skills, interests, and long-term sustainability goals align best, and by the end of the program, I will define a focused specialization to guide my professional development.
Within the next five years, I want to be working in a role where I’m working and improving GIS-based systems that support more sustainable environmental decision-making. I’m building toward this by continuing to strengthen my technical skills in spatial analysis, expanding my GIS development knowledge, and intentionally taking on projects that align with sustainability-focused work.
